search-folders
Use search-folders to locate a folder by name or tag, find a shared workspace, or browse all available folders before listing their contents. It returns folders only. To find designs, images, or subfolders inside a known folder, use list-folder-items, and to find designs by title use search-designs.
Example prompt
"Find the folder the design team shared with me for the rebrand."
All inputs are optional. Pass a query to match against folder names and tags, or omit it to browse every folder. Optional ownership and limit filters are described in the tool's schema.
Example response
IDs, URLs, and tokens below are placeholders; field names and structure are exactly as returned.
{"items": [{"id": "FOLDER_EXAMPLE_1","name": "Rebrand 2026","created_at": 1758000000,"updated_at": 1758000000,"thumbnail": {"width": 595,"height": 335,"url": "https://document-export.canva.com/EXAMPLE_THUMBNAIL"}},{ "id": "FOLDER_EXAMPLE_2", "name": "Rebrand assets", "created_at": 1758000000, "updated_at": 1758000000 }],"continuation": "EXAMPLE_TOKEN"}
Each folder has an id, name, created_at, updated_at, and an optional thumbnail. Use the id as the folder_id for other folder tools. If the response includes a continuation token, pass it back unchanged to get the next page; if it's absent, there are no more results.
Thumbnail URLs expire after 15 minutes. Use them immediately, and don't store or share them.
