get-design
Use get-design to fetch an existing design's metadata and links: title, owner, edit and view URLs, thumbnail, timestamps, and page count. It doesn't return the design's text (use get-design-content) or per-page thumbnails (use get-design-pages).
Example prompt
"Who owns the onboarding deck, and when was it last updated?"
Pass the design_id, either a design ID or a full Canva design share URL. Resolve shortlinks with resolve-shortlink first.
Example response
IDs, URLs, and tokens below are placeholders; field names and structure are exactly as returned.
{"design": {"id": "DAF_EXAMPLE","title": "Onboarding Deck","owner": { "user_id": "USER_EXAMPLE", "team_id": "TEAM_EXAMPLE" },"thumbnail": {"width": 595,"height": 335,"url": "https://document-export.canva.com/EXAMPLE_THUMBNAIL"},"urls": {"edit_url": "https://www.canva.com/d/EXAMPLE_EDIT","view_url": "https://www.canva.com/d/EXAMPLE_VIEW"},"created_at": 1784078449,"updated_at": 1784078453,"page_count": 5,"design_types": ["presentation"]}}
Returns a design with its id, title, owner, thumbnail, urls, created_at, updated_at, page_count, and design_types. Give the user the edit_url or view_url to open the design.
Signed thumbnail URLs expire after 15 minutes. Use them immediately, and don't store or share them.
