merge-designs
Use merge-designs to restructure designs at the page level: insert pages from another design, reorder pages, or delete pages. To change content within a page, use start-editing-transaction instead.
Deleting pages is permanent. Confirm the exact operations with the user before every call.
Example prompt
"Add slides 5 and 6 from the roadmap deck to the end of my Q1 review."
Pass a type of create_new_design (with a title) or modify_existing_design (with the design_id), plus an operations array containing one operation: insert_pages, move_pages, or delete_pages. The server accepts a single operation per call, so to combine pages from several designs, create the design from the first source and then call the tool again with modify_existing_design for each further source.
Example response
IDs, URLs, and tokens below are placeholders; field names and structure are exactly as returned.
This tool wraps results in an asynchronous job object. The server waits for the merge to finish (up to about a minute) before responding, so status is normally success; check it before using the result.
{"job": {"id": "job_EXAMPLE","status": "success","result": {"design": {"id": "DAF_EXAMPLE","title": "Q1 Review","urls": {"edit_url": "https://www.canva.com/d/EXAMPLE_EDIT","view_url": "https://www.canva.com/d/EXAMPLE_VIEW"},"created_at": 1784078449,"updated_at": 1784078453,"page_count": 5}}}}
Returns a job whose result.design is the new or modified design, with its id, title, urls, and page_count; a thumbnail is included when available. Give the user the edit_url.
